This one-day course covers the fundamentals of real estate investment that practitioners need to know to expand their business services and meet the needs of real estate investors. Learn how to adapt core real estate skills and learn new skills to effectively serve clients who want to invest in single family homes, condos, townhomes, and small multifamily properties. You will also learn how to “walk the talk” and become a real estate investor yourself.

- The advantages of expanding your services to include investment real estate
- Helping investors identify and evaluate property types, locations and other value considerations

- Property ownership and management, including when to hire a property manager, working with tenants, and exit strategies for owners who want to divest of investment properties
- Investing as a real estate professional by taking advantage of favorable tax treatment and avoiding conflicts of interest

Instructor
John LeTourneau
John LeTourneau has been a full-time commercial broker since 2005 and specializes in investment real estate. He leads a 5-person commercial team in the Chicago suburbs that actively works with buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants. He is also the Commercial Managing Director over 9 Keller Williams offices in the Western Suburbs with 30 agents.
As his career developed, John has always believed in giving back to the real estate community. He is the Immediate Past President of The Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, the 7th largest Realtor association in the United States, a member of the Board of Directors of both the National Association of Realtors and Illinois Realtors. John is also the Illinois Realtor’s Liaison to the Irish Consulate in Chicago, State Legislative Contact for State Senator John Curran, and serves on various committees for his Local, State, and National Realtor Associations. He speaks across the United States, Canada and Europe on a wide range of real estate topics and is a tireless advocate for raising the bar in the real estate industry.
John fishes whenever he can, is a passionate but long-suffering McLaren Formula 1 fan, and uses his mom’s handed down recipes to bring incredibly tasty baked goods to share wherever he speaks.
